Before you get started .. here is some general information:

Hello and welcome!

This page is aimed at providing a one-stop-view of all our Junior Programs and how to register.

Our NBVA Junior Development Program is aimed at ages 10-18, and welcomes all skill levels;
Beginners looking to learn and love the game of beach volleyball, to those aspiring to represent their state and country in their respective age groups. These Programs include:

Tournaments – Youth Beach Series (YBS)

If you aren’t sure about jumping straight into registration then please fill in our Junior Trial Form and select one of the first 3 Sundays of the Term (See Term Program Flyers with dates below).

NBVA is an affiliate of Volleyball NSW (VNSW) and Membership is required in order to participate in volleyball programs and events. Annual and temporary membership options are available. FAQ: Volleyball Membership is something you do once a year and provides you with a Volleyball Australia ID number. Program registration is for each activity / program you choose to participate in.

We are located on Manly Beach at the volleyball courts (across from the ‘Manly Pacific Hotel’ now ‘Elysium’).

Membership - Annual or Temporary

As an affiliate of Volleyball NSW, we ask that all participants formalize their membership with NBVA (which includes VNSW membership fees) and support the continued growth of our awesome sport! This will activate your Volleyball Australia ID (VA ID) which can be used across all clubs and systems.

2026-27 Membership Info: Choose the VNSW Membership level that suits your playing requirements (follow the link for more detailed information):

Annual U18 Recreational Beach for $42 ($42 VNSW + $0 NBVA)
or Temporary NBVA Introductory U18 Short-Term Trial $0 ($0 VNSW + $0 NBVA)

Parents – we would love to build our NBVA community of parent members so please consider joining also (eg. non-playing member $5.50 VNSW + $5.50 NBVA).

Term Program - Beginner & Intermediate (Sun/Tues)

The following sessions are open for registration to all beginners and intermediate players (10 years+). The main session is on Sunday. For those seeking to accelerate their progress we recommend doing two days Sunday + Tuesday. All Registrations can also be found in the NBVA Store. Please also ensure you annual NBVA + VNSW membership is up-to-date.

FAQ:

What to wear? Shorts, t-shirt, hat and sunglasses is ideal
Where to go? The south end of the volleyball courts at Manly Beach (court 8).This is across from the Manly Pacific Hotel. Look for the junior program banners and come down on the beach!

Term 1 - Sun / Tues - Beginners & Intermediates

Term 1 generally starts on the first Sunday after school has resumed.

Term 2 - Sun / Tues - Beginners & Intermediates

Term 2 generally starts on the first Sunday after school has resumed.

Term 3 - Sun / Tues - Beginners & Intermediates

Term 3 generally starts mid-August on Sunday after a winter break

Term 4 - Sun / Tues - Beginners & Intermediates

'Advanced' / 'Developing Advanced' Program - Please Enquire

Advanced sessions are for athletes who are aiming to compete in the upcoming beach season and are typically striving for state level teams of all ages (U14 – U18).

Developing Advanced Squads for the younger age groups (2013, 2014, 2015) are for those who are absolutely loving their volleyball, playing with some skills already, playing a few times a week and are keen to compete! We are eager to provide an environment for those who have already got a handle on the basics and are ready to apply the next layer of technical details needed to progress on the competition pathway. If you child hasn’t quite got a handle on the basic skills with movement to the ball, then our Beginner/Intermediate program is the place to start / continue as well will be able to help them progress there.

Hooray! NBVA will also form a training hub for the U14/U15 VNSW state teams! The Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships (AYBVC) will be on March 15-18 in Coolangatta! Trials are on Nov 1, 2026 and Nov 22, 2026!

In the meantime, we will also help form NBVA teams to for the Youth Beach Series, with the first event in Manly on Oct 2nd/3rd. Check out the YBS on this page and join the WhatsApp chat to find more information about the series.

FAQ: Generally speaking, kids entering into the ‘Developing Advanced’ program have been playing for some time and have obtained a solid base of skills with some movement, or have shown exceptional athletic aptitude with a keen interest in pursuing volleyball.

We welcome all enquiries and will aim to find the right training group for you if these are full, or are not yet the right fit. Please reach out to us (juniors@nbva.org.au) so we can help on their journey!

Holiday Programs - Camps for Beginners & Intermediates

Our Holiday Camps are open for everyone (ages 9 – 16)! This is a great chance to enhance your skills if you have already been playing, or to try beach volleyball for the first time with lots of fun games! Final camp information and details will be sent via email on the Sunday before the camp.

Key Times:

Sign-in: 9:15am
Start: 9:30am
End: 3:30pm

Reminders:

Wear your NBVA T-Shirt .. or if you don’t have one claim one at Sign-in!
Bring a water bottle, snacks, extra layers and light jacket in case of drizzle.
Where to sign-in & out: The main shelter tables across from Elysium Manly Hotel cross-walk (at N.Steyne & Denision). Athletes who sign themselves in can sign-out at the end.

League - NBVA Junior Beach League (JBL)

We’re excited to bringing back our Junior Beach League (JBL)
We know our many incredible juniors are excited for some weekly game play again, and so are we!

If you haven’t registered yet, it’s not too late. Come and join us.

Tournaments - Youth Beach Series (YBS)

The Youth Beach Series (YBS) is a series of tournaments hosted by the Beach Volleyball Clubs across Sydney. NBVA will typically host two tournaments in Manly each season (October and January) and other Clubs such are Coogee, Brighton Le Sands and Blacktown will host the others. For the younger divisions this is often the first opportunity to play in competition and many are still learning their skills so this is a great place to start – The Triple Ball division is designed for development. This tournament series is open to all levels and will include athletes playing in their first tournament to those aspiring to make the NSW state team! These age groups align with the divisions they would play at March 2027 Youth Champs.

U14 /Triple Ball Division – born 2014 /2015 and younger (4 a-side) *with flexibility for older beginners
U15 – born 2013 ( 3 a-side)
U16 – born 2012 (pairs)
U18 – born 2011/2010 (pairs)

There are several Youth Beach Series Tournaments hosted by Clubs around Sydney (Between October to March). Check out the link to find out all the locations and dates!

To register for any of these events you will need to ensure you have an Annual Membership (Recreational Beach membership is sufficient).
